A child’s occupation is play.
sensory
Did you know there are actually 8 senses? Touch, Taste, Sight, Sound, Smell, Vestibular, Proprioception, and Interoception. Each is like an instrument in an orchestra. All senses must work together in unison for optimal results. When a child struggles to process sensory input, his or her ability to participate, cope, and adapt may be significantly impacted.
- Under/over-responsive to sensory input.
- Rigidity in play, repetitive movements.
- Refuses to wear certain clothes.
- Dislikes getting hair wet, bathing/ hygiene.
- Always crashes into things, clumsy.
- Uses too much force, breaks toys.
- Dislikes messy play (finger painting, jumping in puddles.)
- Dislikes playground equipment (slides, swing, sandbox.)
- Altered awareness of temperature.
- Dislikes laying in a certain position.
- Walks on tiptoes.
- Is easily bothered by lights, sounds, or being touched.
- Gets dizzy or loses balance easily.
social & emotional
I will address all aspects of your child's behavior that impact his or her ability to meaningfully engage in daily routines and with others. I do this by identifying patterns, observing what motivates them, establishing trust, and developing their ability to self regulate.
motor
I will use a variety of approaches based on the latest scientific evidence to create skilled movement interventions that motivate your child. My tailored approach is playful, challenging, and empowers both the child and caregiver.
feeding
I will work with you and your child to address oral motor concerns, picky eating, and self-feeding concerns. Bottles, cups, utensils...Oh my!
caregiver education
I will work with you to empower you and your child. I want you to feel confident in the strategies and techniques used during session so that you can carry them over in the home. This is essential for your child's progress, and something I am truly passionate about.
