Frequently Asked Questions

Usually, something is taking more effort than it should.

Getting dressed. Joining play. Handwriting. Transitions. Keeping up with a group. Managing frustration. Riding a bike. Doing something independently that you know they can do.

Sometimes those things are connected. Sometimes they are not. That is what the evaluation helps me determine.

Good pediatric OT often looks like play from the outside.

Your child may be climbing, building, drawing, playing a game, or learning something new. I know what I am asking of them and why.

The activity may look ordinary. The clinical work is not.

There are excellent therapists in many settings. My model is different.

I evaluate and treat every child myself. I keep a small caseload by design and have the flexibility to work beyond a clinic room when and where it matters.

You work directly with me from evaluation through discharge. Nothing is handed off, and nothing is templated.

What Parents Say.

For most new families, yes.

I want enough information to make a good decision about what your child needs, not simply start therapy because therapy is available.

Sometimes the recommendation is ongoing OT. Sometimes it is not.

At home, daycare, Montessori or private school when appropriate, and in the community.

I do not provide private treatment in public schools.

If the thing we need to understand happens at the pool, park, restaurant, playdate, or during a family outing, that may be where we work.

There is no standard timeline.

I reassess as we go. When your child changes, the plan should change too.

Childhood is not a revolving door.

Yes.

I can help you think through school fit, what supports may make sense, what to ask, and what would be useful for your child’s team to understand.

For IEP and 504 matters, I provide clinical perspective rather than educational advocacy or representation.

I understand. Therapy is an investment, and it should earn its place in your child’s week.

I offer daytime appointments intentionally. For many children, an earlier session means a more productive hour, and the skills we build should make the rest of the week easier.

This is not forever. Schools are typically supportive, and teachers are often among the first to notice when the work begins showing up outside of therapy.

After-school availability is limited, so we will choose a time that makes sense clinically and for your family.

For current and former Tailored OT families when the adults need the hour.

School decisions. New concerns. Big transitions. When your own regulation needs attention, too. What to say, what to try, and what actually matters.

The hour can also be used with a grandparent, nanny, au pair, or daycare teacher.

Tailored OT is private pay and out of network. I do not bill insurance directly.

HSA and FSA funds are accepted. Superbills are available upon request for families who choose to pursue out-of-network reimbursement.
